Utilizing the Polish Cathedral style of architecture, the Basilica of Saint Josaphat begun construction in July 1897 and wasn't dedicated until July 1901. Built out of necessity to accommodate Milwaukee's growing Polish Catholic congregation, this historic basilica seats 2,400. Featuring one of the largest copper domes in the world, the building contains numerous statues and painted murals on the ceilings and walls completed at the turn of the 20th century. The Basilica of Saint Josaphat is located a block from Kosciuszko Park, just outside downtown Milwaukee.
